Birthday Celebration & Gratitude
Today is my birthday and I will eat cake. While I prefer cookies to cake… a special day calls for a special cake! This beautiful cake may not be on my table tonight but I’m sure my family will make me (or buy me) a delicious one.
I was born the Saturday before Easter. The years when my birthday is close to Easter are extra special to me because they occur in the midst of my Lenten reflection and help me focus all the more on the many reasons I have to be thankful. My parents are Catholics so the joy of my birth was magnified in the celebration of the Glory of Christ’s Resurrection. Since I was born on what is know in Spanish as Sabado de Gloria: Saturday of Glory, I almost ended up being named Gloria. My mom seriously considered it but decided to stick with her original choice after all. While I know lots of great Gloria’s I much prefer my own name for me.
Today, I will celebrate joyfully with my family while we spend time together sharing stories of birthdays past and the joy of life . I will eat cake and thank God for my many blessings as well as my many trials. I will also be mindful of each of you. Those of you who visit my blog and share your comments, those of you who have become online friends… I am oh so very grateful for you all. You listen when I am happy or in pain, worried or sure, baffled or ready to teach. Each of you who like my posts, tweets, my Instagrams, or Pins and share shallow or deep conversations with me on Facebook… you give me strength on days when the world gets me down and lift my spirits with your insights and wit. Thank you dear readers and social media friends for letting me in to your worlds and befriending a happy blogger girl.
Hoping to celebrate many many more with all of you! Gracias por su tiempo y amistad.
