I’m a San Antonio native therefore I remember when in the 80’s Splashtown – the water park opened and I visited several times when I was in high school. After I graduated and headed to college I had not been back mostly because I had a misconception
of the state of the park. I’ll admit that the view from the
highway didn’t help either since the trees which provide a nice
screen for people present at the park don’t allow the highway traffic to see all the fun. Imagine my surprise when we visited
again as part of a blogger day and I got to bring my husband and two girlies to explore the 20+ acres of fun. It was so much fun for my 5 year old and even for my 21 month old. We adults
also enjoyed the wave pool and river but didn’t get to go on any slides because the girls are too young. Overall the snacks were great and the park was clean and in good condition. We learned that they had recently repaved and repainted as well as replace and repainted lockers. All in all Splashtown looked almost new and we plan to be back.
Other ways to cool of in San Antonio
Of course as a mother of two I immediately noticed the fact that you can have a birthday party at Splashtown. There was one party going on while we were there and the kids and families seemed to be having lots of fun. Note to self… consider Splashtown for future birthdays. Group events are also available but the one thing that looked like even more fun and what we plan to come back for is the Movie Night. On a hot summer day I can’t imagine a better way to cool off than a dip in the wave pool while watching a family movie. Madagascar 3 will show on June 21st but you can go here for the movie schedule.
Best deal at Splashtown San Antonio
If you live in San Antonio or the surrounding areas and plan to visit more than once the season pass is very affordable or enjoy the after sunset time either way it’s worth your visit. If you are a tourist in town this is one of the many options for family fun and if your goal is to only enjoy the water park then Splashtown is a better deal than the other two parks in town.
Disclosure: while we were invited to Splashtown for free this is my honest opinion and recommendation. I was not compensated in any other way and am sharing with you our real thoughts. Your experience may be different than ours but we sincerely enjoyed it.
