Watching movies is one of my favorite family activities but finding movies at the theater that are appropriate for my young girls is always a challenge. That’s why we were excited to see The One I Wrote for You would be out just in time for us to enjoy during the busy holiday season.
This family film, featuring fourteen original songs by producer/screenwriter David Kauffman (San Antonio local) and directed by Andy Lauer, is a stirring film about the vital need for people to preserve and pursue their dreams. A message we always appreciate as a discussion starter with our daughters.
It’s also a cautionary tale about how people can lose themselves when their dreams lead them astray. Ultimately, the film is a celebration of life’s greatest victory: the healing power of love, friendship and family and obviously perfect to watch with children of any age. Of course it’s also perfect to watch if you want to feel inspired.
We had a movie night at home with our girls and found the movie to be a great conversation starter. Our daughter loved seeing all the familiar San Antonio sites and our youngest enjoyed the music. Personally, I enjoyed the storyline and the stellar cast that star Cheyenne Jackson, Christine Woods, Christorpher Lloyd, Kevin Pollak, Avi Lake, Rafael de la Fuente, and Cameron Kauffman.
While it did have a slow start the storyline was well worth it and we recommend that you add a trip to the theater to see The One I Wrote for You.
