The San Antonio Symphony Fiesta Pops weekend officially kicks off this Friday, April 15 at 6 p.m. with pre-event Fiesta activities at the Tobin Center River Walk Plaza followed by the concert performance at 8 p.m. The San Antonio Symphony will be presenting a FREE simulcast screening of Fiesta Pops featuring the music, dance and culture of Mexico and Latin America with local talents of San Antonio.
Fiesta Medal Extravaganza
Prior to the concert the inaugural Fiesta Medal Extravaganza event will give participants the opportunity to trade, sell or buy Fiesta medals including the Symphony’s official 2016 Fiesta medal. The symphony medals will be available for purchase for $10 on site. Entertainment will include a special dance performance by the Guadalupe Academy and a performance by Mariachi Mujeres Divinas from 6 p.m.–7:30 p.m.
At 8 p.m., guests will see the live simulcast of the complete “Fiesta Pops” program, performed inside the H-E-B Performance Hall, on the 30-foot video wall of the River Walk Plaza.
Enjoy the beautiful sounds of Mariachi Campanas de America performing a special tribute to the great Vicente Fernandez and a mixture of some of your favorite Mariachi songs. The colorful corps of dancers from the Guadalupe Dance Company will grace the stage with an array of dances. Making a special guest appearance and debut at the Tobin Center will be 13-year-old singing sensation Isabel Marie Sanchez. Isabel is a protegé of the (Selena) Quintanilla family and she recently released her debut album “New Girl In Town” from Q Zone records.
San Antonio Symphony Fiesta Pops
To enjoy the outdoor simulcast families are welcomed to bring their blankets and picnic chairs; however, no pets or outside food or drinks are allowed. An official Fiesta event, the program is sure to get you into the Fiesta spirit!
This is a family favorite and we will be attending for the third year in a row. Our 4 and 8-year-old girls ASKED me about this concert as soon as they realized Fiesta was around the corner. We wouldn’t miss all this talent for the world. Hope to see you there. AJUA!!!
Tickets start at $15 and can be purchased at the Tobin Center Box Office by calling (210) 223-8624 or visiting tobincenter.org. If you can’t catch the Friday night performance you can enjoy a date or family night either Saturday, April 16 at 8 p.m. or Sunday, April 17 at 2 p.m.
