Staying Healthy While Traveling

staying healthy while traveling with Boiron

As the holiday travel season gets started preventing illness while traveling will be a focus for many because nothing puts a damper on travel like feeling sick. Whether you feel like you’re coming down with a cold or you experience one of the many other types of travel related aliments such as motion sickness, traveler’s diarrhea, or jet lag… sickness and travel just don’t go together.

While you can find over the counter meds most places you go an even better solution is to travel prepared but packing a medicine cabinet is not a feasible option for most. Our simple portable solution that is also TSA friendly is using Boiron’s line of homeopathic medicine and our favorite solution is Oscillococcinum because it relieves a multitude of common symptoms such as headache, fever, fatigue, body aches, etc.

Since the majority of Boiron medicine is delivered in pellet or tablet form and conveniently packaged in small vials it’s easy to pack. It’s not affected by x-ray and you don’t need water to take it. Most importantly, the medications are safe and very effective at relieving symptoms for the whole family.   Given the small size of the containers and small doses needed you can literally pack a whole medicine cabinet in a small travel purse.

No need to worry about what to take when just look up your symptoms and the app will help you figure out what medicine is your best option. The app also helps you find coupons and even let’s you buy online if you can’t easily access the brand in your area.  Locally, we usually find our medicine at Whole Foods, Central Market, and sometimes Target.

We have been long time users of Boiron products. Our daughters love their “little candies” so giving them the medicine is never a fight. It’s now to the point that my six year old and my three year old both ask for the medication when they are feeling ill.  Regular staples in our home include: Chestal, Oscillococcinum, Coldcalm, Arnica Montana 30C, and Sinusalia. We’ve used Camilia for teething and it worked like magic.

Chestal and Arnica from BoironOur travel recommendations (and what we now take on our trips) include: ColdCalm and Oscillococcinum for cold or flu symptoms, Nux vomica 30C which helps with car motion sickness, jet lag drowsiness and digestive disturbances, as well as general food or alcohol overindulgence; Arnica Montana 30C which relieves muscle pain and stiffness associated with Jet lag, falls/trauma, or over exertion; Podophyllum peltatum 30C that helps alleviate traveler’s diarrhea, and/or Arsenicum album 30C for food poisoning.

For us, homeopathic medicine is a real solution that not only is effective and safe but also convenient when traveling. We know and trust Boiron formulations and understand that being ill during or right after a trip is a sure way to ruin a great travel experience.
