Strollers and car seats

If you are travelling with a child up to age 11, you can check a car or booster seat free of charge. This does not count as part of your regular baggage allowance. The airline’s page we checked did not mention rules for checking strollers, so you may want to ask about that when you book.

If you plan to use an AmSafe CARES harness on board, it is approved for a child weighing between 10 and 20 kg (22 and 44 lb) who is 100 cm (40 in) tall or less and can sit upright.

“If you’re travelling with an infant or child up to the age of 11, you can check a car or booster seat free of charge in addition to your regular baggage allowance.”

Sitting together

Air Canada has a policy to help families sit together without extra fees. Before you check in for your flight, the airline will assign seats to ensure that any child under the age of 14 is seated near an accompanying adult.

This is done automatically at no extra charge. To be certain your family is seated together, it can be helpful to confirm your seating arrangements directly with the airline after you book your tickets.

“We’ll make sure you and your kids under age 14 sit close to each other at no extra charge. We’ll assign generic seats close together for you and your children before check-in.”
