Singapore Airlines infant and child policy: lap infants, bassinets and kids flying alone

Guide to Singapore Airlines infant and child policies. Learn about lap infant rules, baggage allowances for babies, and rules for checking strollers and car seats.

Singapore Airlines allows families to check a car seat and a fully collapsible stroller for free, in addition to the standard baggage allowance. You can also bring a compact, foldable stroller into the cabin if it meets specific size and weight limits, though it will count as a piece of your cabin baggage. When traveling with young children in the same booking, you can select standard seats for free on a first-come, first-served basis.

Lap infants and infant fares

On Singapore Airlines, an infant is a child at least seven days old and under two years of age. Each infant must travel with an adult who is at least 18 years old. If an adult is traveling with two infants, one infant must be secured in a purchased seat with an approved car seat, while the other can be on the adult’s lap. If your child turns two before the next flight in your booking, they will need their own seat for that flight for safety reasons.

Baby baggage

Infants are entitled to a free checked baggage allowance on Singapore Airlines flights. Depending on your itinerary and travel class, this allowance is either up to 10kg or one piece of baggage up to 23kg or 32kg. The airline’s page that we checked does not specify how to determine which allowance applies to your ticket, so it is best to confirm the exact weight or piece limit for your infant’s bag when you book.

“Infants are entitled to up to 10kg (Weight Concept) or 1 piece of baggage up to 23kg/32kg (Piece Concept) of free checked baggage allowance on SIA flights, depending on the itinerary and class of travel.”

Sitting together

When you travel with young children in the same booking, Singapore Airlines allows you to select standard seats for free. This is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. For safety reasons, this option does not apply to seats in the emergency exit row. To ensure your family can sit together, it is a good idea to select your seats as soon as you are able to after booking your flights.

“Select standard seats for free, on a first-come-first-served basis, when you travel with young children in the same booking. This excludes seats in the emergency exit row due to flight safety requirement.”
