SAS car seat and stroller policy

Flying SAS with a baby or child? Learn the rules for bringing strollers and car seats on board or as checked bags. See infant baggage allowances.

When flying with children on SAS, a standout feature is that you can check both a stroller and a car seat for free, in addition to your regular luggage. The airline also has specific size rules for two types of strollers you can bring into the cabin, which is helpful for planning.

Strollers and car seats

SAS allows you to check one stroller and one child safety seat at no extra charge. This is in addition to the standard checked baggage allowance for your ticket. If you are traveling with an infant or a child up to age 11, you can bring a stroller into the cabin if it is a compact or umbrella type that is collapsible and meets specific size limits. For a compact stroller, the maximum size is 55 x 40 x 23 cm. For an umbrella stroller, it is 20 x 20 x 100 cm.

To use a car seat on the plane for a child under 2, you must contact SAS Customer Service to book an extra seat. Children age 2 and older can use a car seat in their own paid seat.

“If you're traveling with an infant or a child age 2 to 11, you can bring a compact or umbrella stroller in the cabin. To be allowed in the cabin, the stroller must be collapsible and fit within these size limits: Compact stroller: max 55 x 40 x 23 cm Umbrella stroller: max 20 x 20 x 100 cm”

Baby baggage

If you are traveling with an infant (ages 0 to 2), you can check one bag for them weighing up to 23 kg. However, this allowance does not apply if the infant is booked on a Light ticket, so be sure to check your ticket type. Keep in mind that infants are not permitted to have their own carry-on bag on SAS flights.
