Philippine Airlines bassinet: what the airline says

Planning to fly Philippine Airlines with a baby? Our guide covers infant bassinet rules, including the strict 6-month age and 10 kg weight limits.

Philippine Airlines offers bassinets for its youngest passengers, but the rules are specific. The most important detail is the age limit: bassinets are only for infants up to 6 months old, with a weight limit of 10 kgs. They are also not available on all aircraft types, so checking your flight details is essential.

Bassinets

A Philippine Airlines bassinet measures about 70cm by 30cm. It is designed for infants up to 6 months old who weigh no more than 10 kgs. These limits mean a bassinet may not be an option for older or larger babies.

Bassinets are not available on all planes. They are offered on all aircraft except the Q300, Q400, A320, and A321 models. It is a good idea to check the aircraft type for your specific flight to see if a bassinet is a possibility.

“The Bassinets are about 70cm long x 30cm wide and shall not be suitable for infants over 6 months of age with a weight limit of 10 kgs. Bassinets are available in all aircraft EXCEPT Q300, Q400, A320 and A321.”

Lap infant rules that go with a bassinet

An infant is defined as a passenger from 16 days old up to their 2nd birthday. An infant without a seat who pays at least 10% of the adult fare is eligible for a baggage allowance. If you plan to use an approved car seat for your baby, you must purchase a separate seat for them.

If your child turns two years old during your trip, a seat must be reserved for them on the return flight. This will require paying an additional fare.

“Infant (16d – 23m) A passenger at least 16 days old and has not reached his/her 2nd birthday as of the date of commencement of travel.”
