Lap infants and infant fares
On Porter Airlines, an infant under the age of 2 can travel on an adult’s lap. Lap-held infants are not charged a base fare or taxes. Each ticketed adult is permitted to travel with only one lap-held infant.
If you prefer your infant to have their own space, you can purchase a full fare seat for them. In this case, the infant must travel in an approved car seat that fits securely in the aircraft seat.

Newborns and proof of age
Porter requires infants to be at least 7 days old to fly. If you need to travel with an infant who is less than 7 days old, you must have a medical clearance certificate from a physician. You will need to present this certificate at check-in.
The airline’s page that we checked does not specify if proof of age is required for older infants, so it is a good idea to carry a copy of your child’s birth certificate just in case.
“Infants must be 7 days or older to travel on a Porter flight. You must have a medical clearance certificate issued by a physician to present at Check-In for any infant less than 7 days old.”

Strollers and car seats
When you travel with infants or small children, Porter allows you to check a collapsible stroller and a car seat at no charge. These items are accepted in addition to your regular checked baggage allowance. If you bring a car seat on board, it must have an internal harness system. Booster seats are not permitted for use on the aircraft.
The Amsafe CARES harness is also allowed for children who are at least 1 year old, weigh between 10-20 kg (22-44 lb), and are up to 100 cm (40 in) tall.

Baby baggage
If you are traveling with a lap infant under age 2, you are allowed to bring a diaper bag on board. This is in addition to your own personal carry-on allowance. This gives you extra space for baby’s necessities during the flight.
It is important to know that lap-held infants who travel at no cost do not receive their own checked baggage allowance. Any checked bags for the baby would count toward the adult’s allowance.
“If you are travelling with an infant under the age of 2 on your lap, you may bring a diaper bag to carry their belongings, in addition to your personal carry-on allowance. … Lap-held infants that are travelling at no cost do not qualify for the checked baggage allowance.”

Sitting together
Porter states that if a family cannot be seated together, the airline will make reasonable efforts to ensure each child under 14 is seated with an adult from the same reservation. To increase the chances of your family sitting together, it is always a good idea to select your seats when you book your tickets if the option is available.
“If you can't all be seated together, we'll make reasonable efforts to ensure each child under 14 years of age is seated with an adult travelling on the reservation.”
